ABOUT THE SCULPTURE

With her sculpture, Transformations, ceramicist Tove Anderberg has embarked on one of the archetypes of ceramics – the vase. Anderberg has provided it with an organic and soft expression, and the large flower bud as a motif and the vase as a traditional utility article are seen to blend together into a common expression.

This symbiosis makes Transformations more of an artwork in a dialogue with nature rather than a representation of nature. It is difficult to separate the artwork from the surroundings and it is difficult to separate the elements such as clay vs. glaze, human beings vs. nature, body vs. thought. But this is not the point either because Anderberg  perceives her sculptures as bodies and the glaze as skin – two inseparable parts. She manages to merge nature and ceramics in a way that the artwork is considered a unity – one cohesive experience.
