ABOUT THE SCULPTURE

Norwegian ceramicist Gunhild Rudjord has created a jar with a decoration that is equally abstract and figurative. The dark blue clouds of flowers and the grass straws gently moving in the sea breeze from Lillebælt are easily identifiable. At the same time there is room left for the imagination and for the thoughts to soar to the heavens with the flowers.

The majestic jar can be seen as a picture of the Resurrection according to Rudjord herself who – from the very outset – knew that the jar would be placed in the garden of Middelfart cemetery. She wanted to create the jar as something beautiful and respectful for a place for silence and contemplation.

Throughout the years Gunhild Rudjord has been the unchallenged master of glazes at the internationally famous Tommerup Ceramic Workcenter.
